Why is My Ad Denied?

Unsure what the denial reason inside of your login means? Find out here.

As a valued RevContent partner, we recognize your commitment to delivering meaningful consumer experiences and maintaining high standards across your campaigns. During our review, we compared your landing pages and creatives against RevContent’s Industry Best Practices Guidelines. Content that did not meet our compliance standards was denied.

Below you can find an explanation of each denial reason exactly as it appears in your login, along with the related policy reference. We encourage you to review these carefully to understand what corrective steps are needed before resubmitting. Any issues that remain unaddressed will keep your submission from approval.

Ad Copy - Brand Name

The brand name selected for your campaign must match the content you are promoting. Using another company’s brand name when it is not associated with your promotion (e.g., “Amazon” when promoting a product via Amazon) will result in denial.

See Ad Copy Policies

Ad Copy - Description

Descriptions must follow headline guidelines, except capitalization. Use either sentence case or title case, not all caps.

See Ad Copy Policies

Ad Copy - Headline Grammar or Formatting

Headlines must be grammatically correct and properly formatted. Denials can occur for:

  • Incorrect bracket use or unsupported geoclaims ({REGION} or [city])
  • Unnecessary spacing or broken text
  • Inclusion of phone numbers or full URLs
  • Improper capitalization
  • Use of all caps outside of acronyms (NASA, FBI, NCAA, etc.)
  • Excessive punctuation (!!!, ???, …)
  • Cut-off or incomplete headlines

Ad Copy - Headline Language or Relevance

Headlines must clearly convey what the creative is promoting and avoid use of any language that could be deemed offensive or suggestive.

See Ad Copy Policies

Ad Copy - Image Quality

Images must be of the highest quality and cannot appear pixelated, contain excessive text, or overlay words that do not follow headline guidelines.

See Ad Copy Policies

Ad Copy - User Experience

This denial reason applies to any creative that could lower the overall experience for users. It does not necessarily reference adult or grotesque imagery, but rather content that is mean-spirited, confusing, or otherwise diminishing to user trust.

See Prohibited Content

Ad Copy/Landing Page Mismatch

The creative ad copy must accurately reflect the content of the landing page. If multiple end products are promoted on a single landing page, the ad copy should clearly communicate this to the user so they understand what is being offered before clicking.

See the Sexually Explicit and Inappropriate Content section of Prohibited Content

Advertorial Violation - Misleading News Elements

Landing pages must not imitate or misrepresent news sources. Denials can occur for using logos or layouts from recognized national news outlets or featuring images of reporters.

See the Misleading Use of News Elements section of Landing Page Policies

Advertorial Violation - Missing Disclosures

All advertorial landing pages must include clear and prominent disclosures to distinguish promotional content from editorial material.

See the Disclosures section of Landing Page Policies

    Advertorial Violation - Missing Substantiation

All promotions that include marketing claims must reference studies or research in support of such claims by way of direct links on the initial landing page or wherever the claim is made.

See the Substantiation section of Landing Page Policies

Advertorial Violation - Trial Offers & Billing

The promotion is missing transparency, required disclosures, and/or affirmative consent for billing. Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that users can easily understand the terms, costs, and cancellation methods.

See the Trial Offers & Billing Practices section of Landing Page Policies

    Excessive Content Submission

Submitting a high volume of content in a short window of time may prevent the policy team from reviewing campaigns in a timely manner. Denial is at the discretion of the team and thresholds are subject to change based on broad submission patterns.

      Graphic/Disturbing - Ad Copy

The creative’s image and/or headline has been deemed too graphic either due to blood, injuries, or other unsettling references.

      Inaccurate Language Targeting

Campaign language targeting must match the headline language for all creatives. Misalignment in content language from the ad copy, initial landing page, or product page will be denied. As will improper use of “All Languages.”

Inappropriate Image of a Child in Ad Copy

Any image that is considered in poor taste, exploitative, or otherwise inappropriate for a child will be denied. This includes depictions of unsafe behaviors, ridicule, or sexualized content.

      Misleading and Deceptive Practices

One or more elements in your ad copy or landing page either misrepresent or intentionally mislead users about the product, service, or offer.

See the Malicious, Deceptive, and Fraudulent Practices section of Prohibited Content

Offer Type Not Allowed In Targeted Geo(s)

The creative’s offer type is prohibited in one or more of the campaign’s targeted country list.

        See Restricted Content

        Unable to Review End Product

The policy team was unable to review the end product being promoted possibly because the URL does not load, the language differs from that of the campaign targeting, there is a lengthy video without a bypass option, or sign-up is required.

        Unsubstantiated Claims - Ad Copy

Product or service claims made either in the headline or as text overlay in the ad copy image are not supported with credible evidence.

See the Unsubstantiated Claims section in Prohibited Content

        Unsubstantiated Claims - Landing Page

Product or service claims made on the landing page are not supported with credible evidence.

See the Unsubstantiated Claims section in Prohibited Content

          URL Does Not Resolve

The target URL associated with your creative does not load or render correctly for review. Landing pages must be accessible without requiring macros, scripts, or other manual manipulation of the URL.

          Violates Restricted Content Guidelines

The ad copy or landing page contains elements that violate our policies for that offer type. Please review the Restricted Content resource for the offer’s specific ad category to better understand these guidelines.
