Email Monetization CNAME Setup

Deliverability is at the heart of successful Email Monetization. Since email providers are always updating their systems, they rely on a range of signals - including redirect domains - to decide whether an email should be placed in the inbox or marked as spam.

What does this mean for you?
When you place ads in newsletters, every ad click routes through a tracking/click-redirect domain. If the redirect domain belongs to the ad network, subscribers see an unfamiliar domain which can trigger spam filters, security scanners, or user hesitation.

The CNAME Solution
Also known as a “white-label”, A CNAME is a type of DNS record that maps one domain name (an alias) to another (the true domain). This allows you to create a branded subdomain that secretly points to another domain (like your ad partner’s servers), signaling to users and inbox providers that you are sending from a trusted domain that belongs to you. This encourages trust with both real users as well email providers, resulting in a stronger brand identity as well as better inboxing and fewer spam flags.

CNAME Setup
In order to monetize your newsletters with RevContent, we require that you setup a CNAME record in your DNS server using the following credentials:

Please note: you will need to replace the YOURDOMAIN.COM placeholder with the actual sending domain of your newsletter

CNAME Configuration Confirmation
Once the CNAME has been set up, you can confirm the configuration was successful here by adding the subdomain (rcms.YOURDOMAIN.COM) into the search query. If configured properly, you’ll see a blue check-mark with a successful status message. If there are errors with the configuration, you’ll see a blue X along with an error message.
