Guide to Creating a Campaign
Follow this guide to set up your campaign and add content for review. We’ll walk you through each campaign setting and creative field, along with best practices to help you launch with the right targeting, tracking, and ad content.
Before launching, we recommend setting campaigns up in a way that makes performance easy to understand and optimize. In most cases, advertisers should separate campaigns by key variables such as country, device type, language, and targeting strategy. This allows for cleaner reporting, more accurate bid adjustments, and stronger performance comparisons over time.
Creating Your Campaign
To create a campaign, navigate to the Campaigns section of your account and select the option to create a new campaign. From there, you’ll be prompted to complete your campaign settings.
Campaign Name
Give your campaign a clear, descriptive name that makes it easy to identify later. We recommend using a naming convention that includes the most important campaign details. Example: Country - Vertical - Device
Bid Type
Select the pricing model for your campaign:
CPC: Cost per click. You are billed when a user clicks on your content within a RevContent widget.
vCPM: Viewable cost per thousand impressions. You are billed based on viewable impressions rather than clicks.
Set a separate default bid for your campaign across each product type in the marketplace: Web, Apple News, and Email Newsletter. Reach out to your account manager or email support@revcontent.com to learn more.
Budget Amount
Set the daily budget for your campaign (minimum $50/day). Once the daily budget is reached, the campaign will stop serving for the day, except for activity from content that was already served before the budget was reached.
We recommend setting a daily budget high enough to allow the campaign to pace effectively and gather meaningful performance data.
Please note that you will need to enable Auto-Funding on your account in order to set an unlimited budget.
Pacing
Pacing controls how quickly your daily budget is spent.
On: Spend is distributed more evenly throughout the day.
Off: Spend occurs as quickly as eligible traffic is available.
If a campaign has a low budget and high bids, pacing may have less flexibility to distribute spend evenly across the full day.
Conversion Tracking
If you want to track conversions, you can create a conversion pixel and place the provided code on the page where conversion events occur. RevContent also supports server-to-server tracking for advertisers with more technical setup needs.
For full setup instructions, see Advertiser Tracking.
Brand Logo
RevContent may automatically detect a brand logo from the destination URL’s favicon. If needed, you can also upload a custom brand image to display with your content on widgets where brand logos are enabled.
Scheduling
Campaign scheduling allows you to control when your campaign is eligible to serve. This can be useful if you want your campaign to run during specific days, hours, or date ranges.
For more details, see Campaign Scheduling.
Targeting
For campaign targeting best practices, see Campaign Targeting Options.
Tracking
RevContent supports custom UTM parameters to be appended to landing page URLs. For full setup instructions, see Tracking Options for Advertisers.
