A guide to generating UUIDs with Constant Contact

Constant Constact offers a wide variety of tags which dynamically generate user & campaign data. By using combinations of these tags we can dynamically pass unique values (UUIDs) into the "key" parameter without the need for any javascript. For example:

[[FirstName]] pulls in the contact's first name
[[LastName]] pulls in the contact's last name
{{date:"%j %T"}} pulls in the numerical day of the year and time

By combining these tags we can successfully create a dynamic UUID and our "key" parameter would therefore look something like this:

key=[[FirstName]][[LastName]]{{date:"%j %T"}}

This is one of many possible variations. You can use whichever tokens you'd like just as long as the key parameter value (UUID) is unique to each email recipient and email campaign.

NOTE: the same UUID must always be passed into the key parameter of both the anchor and image tag
